Mamestra sylvatica Bellier, 1861 , Annales de la Société Entomologique de France (4) 1: 29, pl. 2, fig. 11 (Type locality: Corsica).

Synonymy: Crino sylvatica var. bellieri Schawerda, 1943 (Type locality: Corsica).

Material examined. 1 male, Korsika, Restonica Bie. de Grotelle, 1400 m, 4.viii.1977, R. Oswald (Coll. GBG / ZSM); 1 female, Nr5, Frankreich / Korsika, Monte Cinto Gebiet, 1800 m, ca. 3 km SW Haut Asco (GR20), Nacht- Tagfang, 20.vii.1998, leg. N. Keil, P. Schwarzbauer (Coll. GBG / ZSM); 1 male, Corsica, 12..., A. Faller Frbg. / 42 / coll. Bartha / Coll. Lepidoptera Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest (Coll. Diagnosis. Wingspan 45–47 mm. Head, thorax and abdomen dark blackish grey. Ground colour of forewing dark blackish grey. Wing pattern similar to that of the nominotypical subspecies. Hindwing dark brownish grey. The male genitalia ( Fig. 80 View FIGURES 75 – 80 ) very close to M. anilis anilis , but uncus slightly longer and juxta somewhat narrower. The female genitalia ( Fig. 116 View FIGURES 113 – 120 ) have no diagnostic features with regard to M. anilis anilis .

Distribution. Corsica and Sardinia.
