( Figs 29–32 View FIGURES 1 – 32 , 40 View FIGURES 33 – 40 , 45 View FIGURES 41 – 45 )

Three males and one female were captured in PNSD, one male in 2011 and the remainder in 2014. Specimens of M. leucophrys were observed on the hilltop flying slowly about one to two meters from the ground during the end of the day (around 17:00h.).

Mesene leucophrys is one of the species with the most extensive synonymic list of the genus ( Callaghan & Lamas 2004), with nine synonyms, which serves as an indication of its variable phenotype. The specimens from PNSD have a phenotype similar to that of the type specimen of M. leucophrys , which is somewhat similar to M. paraena ( Warren et al. 2016) . Due to distribution of CAS and morphology of male genitalia, this species belongs to the “ phareus ” species group.
