Neoheegeria sinaitica Priesner View in CoL

Neoheegeria sinaitica Priesner, 1934: 278 View in CoL

The type specimens were collected on Verbascum View in CoL sp. in Sinai, Egypt but another series was collected at the same locality on Phlomis floccosa View in CoL [ Lamiaceae ]. Priesner (1965) concluded that the identification of Verbascum View in CoL might be incorrect. The species is distinguished from other species in the genus by the presence of a ‘conspicuous’ or ‘rather prominent, slender’ fore tarsal tooth in females ( Priesner 1934; 1965). A single female of sinaitica View in CoL was collected on Astragalus View in CoL sp. with the new species described above, and this is the first report of sinaitica View in CoL since its description. The validity of this species remains doubtful, in the absence of further specimens from the area of the type locality.
