Ostorhinchus notatus (Houttuyn 1782) View in CoL —Tiny cardinalfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen in a video of a specimen taken east of Nago Island, Kavieng District, at 2–9 m depth, St. KR 28, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in coral and rocky reefs, 0– 20 m depth. Marine.
