Paracineta saifulae ( Mereschkowsky, 1877) View in CoL

Record as epibiont on cnidarians: The species was described by Mereschkowsky (1877) from Bay of Onega, White Sea near the Rem ( Russia) as epibiont on hydroid Leptoscyphus grigoriewi Mereschkowsky, 1877 under the name Acineta saifulae . The same species was independently described by Fraipont (1878) on the hydroid Campanularia volubilis (Linnaeus, 1758) from Belgian coast of the North Sea near Ostende as Acineta crenata . The species was mentioned by Collin (1912) in the name combination Paracineta crenata , as found on hydroid Leuckartiara octona (Fleming, 1823) . This suctorian was recorded under the name Actinocyathula crenata as epizoic on marine hydroids Campanularia volubilis (Linnaeus, 1758) (reported as Clytia volubilis ) and Perigonimus repens ( Curds, 1987) , and also reported as epibiont on the hydrozoan Dicoryne conferta (Alder, 1856) , which was found on gastropod shells inhabited by the hermit-crab Pagurus bernhardus from the west coast of Scotland ( Fernandez-Leborans et al. 2013).

Record as epibiont on other hosts/substrata: The species was mentioned by Collin (1912) in the name combination Paracineta crenata , as epibiont found on polychaete Aphrodita aculeata Linnaeus, 1761 from French coast of the Mediterranean Sea near Sète. It was also found on algae in the North Sea, Atlantic, and the White Sea ( Kahl 1934). The species was reported at artificial substrates (glass slides) near Quingdao, China ( Chen et al. 2005) and in the Black Sea near Bulgarian coast and Russian coast near Gelendzhik ( Dovgal 2013). This species was reported as epibiont on bryozoan Triticella pedicellata (Alder, 1857) attached to crab Atergatis sp. from Mandovi-Zuari River mouth, Goa, West coast of India, Arabian Sea (Chatterjee & Dovgal 2020).
