Porphyrochroa cercosingularis View in CoL sp. nov.

(Figs. 4a–i; 18d; 20)

Diagnosis: P. cercosingularis sp. n. Is closely related to P. hipandriociliaris Mendonça, Rafael & Ale-Rocha, 2007 due to the presence of posterior hypandrial projection and due to the basal cercal lobe posteriorly projected. It differs due to the form of the hypandrium, obeliskform and with normal apex.

FIGURE 4. Porphyrochroa cercosingularis sp. nov., holotype male: a, Tergites 6–8, dorsal view; b, Sternites 6–8, dorsal view; c, Epandrium, lateral view; d, Hypandrium, phallus, cercus and subepandrial sclerite, lateral view; e, Hypandrium, posterior view; f, Terminalia, lateral view; g, Cercus, dorsal view; h, Subepandrial sclerite, ventral view; i, Ejaculatory apodeme, anterior view. Abbreviation: a cerc, anterior cercus; cerc, cercus; ej apod, ejaculatory apodeme; goncx apod, gonocoxal apodeme; hypd, hypandrium; p cerc, posterior cercus; ph, phallus; sbepand scl, subepandrial sclerite; ST, sternite; T, tergite.

Description. Male: body length 2.7 mm; wing length 2.6 mm.

Frons and face shiny black. Frons slightly narrower than width of anterior ocellus, subparallel sided, with two proclinate setae. Face slightly longer than frons, subequal in width to frons. Proboscis light-yellow, length equal to height of head. Palpus brown, with one small and almost apical seta. Ocellar tubercule with vitreous red ocellus; two proclinate ocellar setae; two parallel postocellar setae. Antenna brown, with pruinescence conspicuous; scape and pedicel medially verticillate; flagellum about four times longer than scape and pedicel combined. Postcranium shiny brown, with distinct brown setae and gray pruinescence; one pair of parallel vertical setae; postocellar setae distinct, arranged in complete single serie. Gena and postgena with setae brown to black and sparse gray pruinescence. Thorax shiny brown, with conspicuous postsutural gray pruinescence. Thoracic setae: 3 slender ktg. 4 sctl, larger internal pair; 2 aprn; prepm broken; 2 pprn; 2 acr; 4 dc; 1 spal presut; 1 spal psut; 2 ntpl; 1 pal. Legs with coxae, trochanters and basal fifth of femora yellow, remaining segments brown. Hind tibia and basal tarsomere with long dorsal setae. All legs with short distinct setae. Wing hyaline with conspicuous pterostigma; anal lobe wide; R2+3 little curved ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 d). Halter brown. Abdomen shiny brown, with metallic green luster in diverse light incidence angles. Sternites shiny brown. Tergite 7 with pair of posteroventral protuberances (Fig. 4a); tergite 8 wider than long (Fig. 4a); sternite 8 wide, greater than former ones (Fig. 4b). Terminalia: epandrium posteroventral projected with long setae centrally and short setae in extremities (Fig. 4c). Cercus slightly elongate in lateral view (Fig. 4d); in dorsal view with anterior lobe projected posteriorly, with spines (Fig. 4g). Hypandrium with two long setae on superior third, obelisk posteriorly (Figs. 4d; e). Ejaculatory apodeme with three projections in anterior view (Fig. 4i); subepandrial sclerite with fold at apex of arm (Fig. 4h).

Female: Unknown.

Distribution: BRAZIL (Roraima).

Type material: Holotype male: BRAZIL: Roraima, Pacaraima , 25.vi–5.vii.1988, Eq.[uipe] J.A. Rafael / Arm.[adilha] de Malaise / Holotype macho Porphyrochroa cercosingularis ( INPA). Paratypes: idem (10 male, INPA); Pacaraima , 25.vi–5.vii.1988, Eq. J.A. Rafael, Arm. de Malaise, Flor de Heliconia sp. (1 male, MPEG).

Holotype condition: setae prepm and acr broken; left wing mounted on microslide in Canada balsam; abdomen within microvial containing glycerin. Microslide and microvial pinned and attached to specimen.

Etymology: from Latin singularis = single, different. It makes allusion to the basal cercal lobe posteriorly projected, different of others species.
