Description. FEMALE. Idiosomal length 209, maximum width 165. Gnathosoma ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 8 ). Gnathosomal capsule dorsally with 1 pair of blunt ended setae chb. Palpal setae dGe and dFe subequal. Dorsal medial apodeme indistinct.

Idiosomal dorsum ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 8 ). Stigmata oval, situated anterolaterally on prodorsum. Trichobothrium with thin stem, distally spherical, with pointed tip, smooth. All tergites with large dimples. All dorsal setae barbed, except smooth v 1 and v 2. Setae sc 1, v 1, and c 2 pointed, other dorsal setae blunt ended. Cupules ia, im, and ih large, round. Length of dorsal setae: v 1 20, v 2 18, sc 2 80, c 1 45, c 2 69, d 57, e 21, f 80, h 1 78, h 2 16. Distances between dorsal setae: v 1– v 1 26, v 2–v2 57, sc 2– sc 2 61, c 1– c 1 73, c 1– c 2 25, d–d 94, e–f 10, f–f 78, h 1– h 1 56, h 1– h 2 8.

Idiosomal venter ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 8 ). Setae 1 a, 2 a, and 2 c on anterior sternal plate with distinctly thickened basal part, smooth, pointed. Setae 2 b unmodified, weakly barbed. All setae of posterior sternal plate smooth, pointed; setae 3 b, 3 c, 4 b, and 4 c with thickened basal part; setae 3 a and 4 a almost unmodified. Setae ps 1- ps 2 smooth, pointed; setae ps 3 blunt ended, barbed. Anterior sternal plate with large dimples. Other ventral plates with numerous small dimples. Ap1 very large, well sclerotized, joined with appr, ap2 well developed, joined with appr; apsej well developed, strongly sclerotized; sta weakly developed; ap3 thin, consisting of 2 separated sclerites. Ap4 well sclerotized, broken medially and joined with appo. Posterior margin of posterior sternal plate slightly convex medially. Posterior margin of aggenital plate weakly concave. Length of ventral setae: 1 a 15, 1 b 30, 1 c 15, 2 a 16, 2 c 17, 3 a 15, 3 b 16, 3 c 21, 4 a 18, 4 b 24, 4 c 18, ps 1 21, ps 2 21, ps 3 18.

Legs ( Figs. 9–12 View FIGURES 9 – 10 View FIGURES 11 – 12 ). Leg setation typical for the genus ( Khaustov 2008b). Leg I ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9 – 10 ) very thick. Tarsal claw thick, blunt ended, weakly striated on inner surface. Solenidion ω 1 8, finger-shaped, solenidia ω 2 7 and φ 2 5 baculiform, solenidion φ 1 6, clavate. Setae l’GeI, l”GeI, l’FeI blunt-ended. Setae dFeI hook-like. Leg II ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9 – 10 ). Solenidion ω 8, finger-shaped, solenidion φ very small, indistinct, situated in shallow depression. Setae dFeII blunt ended. Tarsus with thickened basally claws. Leg III ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 12 ). Solenidion φ very small, indistinct, situated in shallow depression. Setae dFeIII, l’GeIII, and pl”TaIII blunt ended. Tarsus with thickened basally claws. Leg IV ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 12 ). Solenidion φ on tibia absent. Setae dFeIV, v’FeIV, v”TiIV, and pl’TaIV blunt ended. Tarsus with pair of simple sickle-like claws.

Type material. Female holotype, slide № VT 220890 /P, RUSSIA: Far East, Primorye, ca. 50 km SWW Vladivostok, ca 10 km NW Slavyanka, Bamburovo vill., at light, on single specimen of beetle Trox cadaverinus Illiger attracting to a light trap, 22 July 1990, coll. Napolov A. (beetle), Trach V.A. (mites)

Type depositories. Holotype deposited at the collection of the Nikita Botanical Gardens—National Scientific Centre, Yalta, Ukraine.

Etymology. The name of new species refers to its association with trogid beetles.

Differential diagnosis. The new species is most similar to Pseudopygmephorellus pinguisetus ( Mahunka and Philips, 1978) comb. nov., but differs by lack of striated microsculpture on lateral parts of prodorsum (present in P. pinguisetus ), by setae d distinctly longer than c 1 (d and c 1 subequal in P. pinguisetus ), and by unmodified setae 3 a and 4 a (3 a and 4 a distinctly thickened basally in P. pinguisetus ).
