Locus typicus: USA, Texas, Houston, City Park. Holotype: Male , 15.ii.1996, leg. I. Eue, yellow trap ( PWMP) . Paratype: 2 males, same data ( PWMP) .

Further material: 1 male, 3.–6.xi.1996, leg. W. Mohrig, Texas, Houston, Tiki Islands, 25 mi SE Houston , yellow trap ; 1 male, 21.–23.vii.1997, leg. W. Mohrig, USA, Virginia, Williamsburg , mixed forest, yellow trap ( PWMP) .

Description. Male. Head. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index 2.4, haired longer than wide; neck rather long. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment with slightly deepened sensory area and 1–2 bristles. Thorax. Brown; scutum haired brown. Wings pale; R1: R = 0.5; c somewhat longer ½ w; y nearly 1/ 2 x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs yellowish brown; tibial organ of fore tibia small, comblike; spurs of middle and hind tibiae with long, but unequal spurs; claws toothless. Abdomen. Brown, haired brownish. Hypopygium brown; gonocoxites longer than gonostylus, inner ventral margin haired sparsely. Gonostylus elongated, without tooth; with 3 small, somewhat unequal spines on apex. Tegmen wide. Body size: 2 mm.

Comments. This small species is similar to Sc. subawanatae in the shape of gonostylus with three apical spines. It differs mainly by the short and strong antennal flagellomeres. The species belongs to the Sc. inesae group.
