Diagnosis. Males of Uaiuara amazonica (Simon) comb. nov. resemble those of U. jirau sp. nov. in the short retrolateral groove on the palp, reaching less than half the cymbium length ( Figs 30 View FIGURES 29 – 32 , 42 View FIGURES 41 – 44 ) and those of U. dianae sp. nov. in the lack of strong hairs along the groove ( Figs 30 View FIGURES 29 – 32 , 38 View FIGURES 37 – 40 ). They are distinguished from both species by the slightly sclerotized conductor ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ) and long, laminar dRTA ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ) in the male palps. The females resemble those of U. ope sp. nov. in the epigyne with lateral lobes projecting anteriorly into the median septum ( Figs 31 View FIGURES 29 – 32 , 47 View FIGURES 45 – 48 ) and U. dianae sp. nov. by the projections of the lateral lobes large and reaching in length the posterior margin of the median septum ( Figs. 31 View FIGURES 29 – 32 , 39 View FIGURES 37 – 40 ). They are distinguished from both species by the median septum rebordered and as long as wide (wider in both U. dianae sp. nov. and U. ope sp. nov.) ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ).

Description. Male (IBSP 137204): Prosoma brownish orange, slightly darker at eye area, with brown margins, brown fovea, brown marks along lateral margins of cephalic region and between thoracic striae. Eye borders black. Chelicerae brownish orange with longitudinal brown stripe. Legs and pedipalps yellowish brown with faint, incomplete, pale brown bands ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ). Sternum yellow with pale orange margins. Labium and endites pale orange, distally cream colored. Opisthosoma cream colored with dorsal pattern of scattered marks laterally on anterior half and chevron-like marks on posterior half ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ). Total length 6.7. Prosoma: 2.7 long, 2.4 wide. Opisthosoma: 3.7 long, 2.0 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.24, 0.18, 0.12, 0.18; interdistances: 0.14, 0.04, 0.24, 0.18, 0.12, 0.06. Palp: tibia with one prolateral and one dorsal spine; dRTA long and laminar, slightly twisted subdistally; vRTA shorter and subtriangular; VTA present, slightly prolaterally displaced; cymbium with retrolateral groove short, no longer than half cymbium length, and smooth; subtegulum/tegulum notch at 4 o’clock; tegulum prolaterally flanked by hyaline lamina protruding very slightly at the base of embolus and becoming slightly membranous at the base of conductor; median apophysis small, cupshaped; embolus arising at 6 o’clock ( Figs 29–30 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ).

Redescription. Female (IBSP 137205): Coloration pattern as in male, darker at prosoma, legs and pedipalps and with opisthosoma pale brown ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ). Total length 6.6. Prosoma: 2.8 long, 2.4 wide. Opisthosoma: 3.6 long, 2.4 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.20, 0.16, 0.12, 0.16; interdistances: 0.16, 0.06, 0.26, 0.20, 0.12, 0.06. Legs: I: 9.5 (2.8, 1.4, 2.6, 2.1, 0.6); II: 10.0 (3.0, 1.4, 2.7, 2.2, 0.7); III: 7.7 (2.4, 1.0, 1.8, 1.9, 0.6); IV: 9.4 (2.7, 1.1, 2.2, 2.6, 0.8). Spination: femur III: r1-0-1; tibiae I–II: v 8 pairs; tibia III: d0-0-1. Epigyne: epigynal field longer than wide. Vulva: LP slightly curved and divergent; gp inconspicuous; fertilization ducts short and slender, pointing away from each other ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ).

Variation. Males (n = 10) total length 5.7–7.7; prosoma length 2.5–3.0; femur I length 2.6–3.3. Females (n = 10): total length 6.0–7.7; prosoma length 2.4–3.3; femur I length 2.4–3.1.
