Externally ( Figs 21, 22 ) the subspecies differs clearly from M. adusta adusta by its smaller size, dark brown or blackish ground colour of forewings and contrasting colouration with pale and well-defined all elements of pattern. The genitalia are very close to those of M. adusta adusta , but in the males ( Figs 63, 64 ): uncus somewhat longer; juxta much broader; and ampulla somewhat shorter; in the female genitalia ( Fig. 103 ): ostium bursae somewhat broader; ductus bursae more curved than in M. adusta adusta ; and signum very small. Distribution . North Atlantic islands. Faroe Islands ( Fibiger et al. 2010 ), Iceland , Greenland .
