( Figs 28–30 ) Description . Male . Head, ventral side of thorax brown; palpi pale yellow; antennae amber yellow; pronotum mostly yellowish brown; elytra brown on wide central area surrounded by yellowish brown area; legs pale yellow except brownish claws and tibial spurs. Head . Frons and area between antennal tubercles finely, moderately sparsely punctate; with dense white pubescence obscuring integument (this area interspersed with a few long, erect yellowish white setae close to lower eye lobes. Area between upper eye lobes and prothoracic margin finely, sparsely punctate; with yellowish brown pubescence nearly obscuring integument, except glabrous, small, elliptical area centrally between upper eye lobes; with long, erect, sparse yellowish white setae close to upper eye lobes. Area behind upper eye lobes with yellowish brown pubescence nearly obscuring integument until its distal third, then with dense white pubescence, which covers area behind lower eye lobes and mostly of gena; with a few long, erect yellowish white setae. Distal area of genae glabrous. Antennal tubercles with dense white pubescence basally, gradually yellowish brown toward apex. Median groove distinct from clypeus to prothoracic margin. Gulamentum glabrous. Distance between upper eye lobes 0.36 times length of scape; in frontal view, distance between lower eye lobes 0.86 times length of scape. Antennae 2.3 times elytral length, reaching elytral apex at distal quarter of antennomere VI; scape, pedicel and antennomeres with long, erect yellowish brown setae ventrally, gradually shorter, sparser from antennomere III to XI; antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III: scape = 0.53; pedicel = 0.14; IV = 0.66; V = 0.64; VI = 0.64; VII = 0.52; VIII = 0.44; IX = 0.43; X = 0.36; XI = 0.37. Thorax . Lateral margins of prothorax divergent from base to apex of basal third, then slightly convergent toward distal margin. Pronotum moderately coarsely, abundantly punctate; with sub-rectangular large area with dense white pubescence, from base to near apex, except narrow, small glabrous area centrally on basal half; remaining surface with yellowish brown pubescence nearly obscuring integument. Sides of prothorax with sculpturing as on pronotum; superior area with yellowish brown pubescence continuing that on sides of pronotum; remaining surface with dense white pubescence. Prosternum with dense white pubescence. Mesoventrite, mesanepisternum, mesepimeron, metanepisternum and metaventrite with dense white pubescence. Scutellum with yellowish brown pubescence not obscuring integument. Elytra . Coarsely, moderately abundantly punctate, finer, sparser distally; dorsally with large area with dense white pubescence, from basal seventh to about distal 1/12, with its anterior margin sinuous, distal margin obliquely rounded toward suture, and sides with deeply, moderately widely notched at about center of its basal and distal half; remaining surface with yellowish brown pubescence not obscuring integument; with long, erect, sparse yellowish brown setae on distal third. Legs . Femora with yellowish white pubescence not obscuring integument. Tibiae with short and long bristly yellowish white setae, denser toward apex. Abdomen . Ventrites I–II with dense white pubescence; ventrites III–V with yellowish white pubescence not obscuring integument. Dimensions . Total length, 9.00; prothoracic length, 1.70; basal prothoracic width, 1.70; distal prothoracic width, 1.65; widest prothoracic width, 2.00; humeral width, 2.55; elytral length, 6.35. Type material . Holotype male from FRENCH GUIANA : Route de Kaw (pk 38), 20.VII.1984 , M . Duranton col. [# 796 ex collection IRD] ( MNHN ). Remarks . Phoebemima durantoni sp. nov. is similar to P. teteia (Galileo & Martins, 1996) , but differs as follows: vertex without dense white pubescent patch of each side of median groove; pronotum with large subrectangular white pubescent area; scutellum with yellowish white pubescence not obscuring integument; each elytron with a single large pubescent macula. In P. teteia , the vertex has distinct dense white pubescent patch each side of medina groove, pronotum with two large D-shaped white pubescent area, scutellum with dense white pubescence obscuring integument, and each elytron with three pubescent maculae. It is also similar to P. theaphia (Bates, 1881) , but differs by the prothorax slightly, gradually constricted basally (more strongly and abrupt in P. theaphia ), pronotum with a single large macula with dense white pubescence (with two maculae in P. theaphia ), white pubescence of elytra distinctly not reaching base and apex (almost reaching in P. theaphia ), antennae amber yellow (brown with distal area darkened in P. theaphia ), and legs pale yellow (legs dark brow in P. theaphia ). Phoebemima durantoni sp. nov. can be included in the alternative of couplet “3” from Martins & Galileo (2014a) (translated, modified): 3(2). Pronotum with a single large white pubescent macula; white pubescence on elytra distinctly not reaching base and apex. In honor of Michel Duranton who collected a great amount of new species and generously offered them to the first author. His contribution to French Guiana’s fauna is the most important with more than 25 holotypes of very rare species collected by him ( Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2018 ).
