Male ( Figs 37–42 ) Diagnosis. This species does not belong in any of the Euplocania species groups. It differs from other species of Euplocania that also present the hypandrium with a single sclerite ( Fig. 42 ), by pattern of the forewings, shape of the phallosome sclerites and details of the shape of the hypandrium. Forewings of five branches, with M 4 and M 5 forked; cells cu1 and cu2 with brown areas; pterostigma with proximal and distal dark brown bands; hypandrium with pair of posterior projections strongly widened, each with two short posterior processes, one external and one internal, internal one with macrosetae basally. Phallosome with side struts slender, V-shaped, anterior pair of endophallic sclerites very close together at its posterior end, giving the appearance of a V; lateral sclerites broad, curved, angled out. Pair of mesal sclerites almost close to the midline, each with a short posterior process. Therefore, a new species group is proposed for this species, the ticuna group (see discussion below). Head ( Fig. 39 ) dark brown; compound eyes black; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Clypeus, labrum and genae dark brown. Genae with transverse narrow stripes. Maxillary palps dark brown, Mx1 paler. Legs: Coxae brown, fore- and mid- femora pale brown, with two brown spots; hind- femora dark brown, light brown apically; trochanters light brown, tibiae and tarsi pale brown. Forewings ( Fig. 37 ) mostly hyaline, brown spots at veins ends and on apex of areola postica, other spots as in diagnosis. Hindwings ( Fig. 38 ) hyaline, veins brown. Hypandrium brown. Epiproct and paraprocts light brown; paraprocts with dark hemispherical area on outer edge of trichobothrial fields. Endophallic sclerites dark brown. Morphology : Head: H/MxW: 3.71; compound eyes mid-sized, H/D: 2.7; IO/MxW: 0.19. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with six denticles. Forewings: L/W: 0.49. Pterostigma wider in the middle: lp/wp: 1.57, areola postica tall, almost reaching M, apex rounded: al/ah: 1.22. Hindwings: l/w: 0.49. Hypandrium ( Fig. 42 ) as described in diagnosis. Phallosome ( Fig. 41 ), with endophallic sclerites as described in diagnosis, external parameres somewhat widened, with clearly sclerotized internal area, bearing pores. Paraprocts ( Fig. 40 ) triangular, with a dense field of setae and macrosetae posteriorly; sensory fields with 27 trichobothrias on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 40 ) slightly convex anteriorly, rounded posteriorly, setae and macrosetae as illustrated. Measurements (in microns). Paratypes , 2 males , same locality and collector, 18.II.2015 . Types deposited in the Entomological Museum of the Universidad del Valle (MUSENUV), in Santiago de Cali , Colombia . Etymology. This species is dedicated to the Tikunas, a large Amazonian ethnic group, distributed in the Amazonian trapeze between Colombia , Peru and Brazil . The name means “men painted in black” because of their habits of painting their entire bodies with the fruit of the huitoto tree.
