Figs 2 B, 6 H, 8 H, 11 H, 13 H. Fore wing length 3.2–3.4 mm . Face medially 0.9x wider than high; face smooth and polished, densely punctate medially, eyes not setose, dorsal ridge of face inbetween antennal sockets without a median prominence; profile straight except dorsal third slightly impressed, edge of clypeus straight or slightly concave, antennal sockets on a high shelf; malar groove fine, bent towards occiput, somewhat sinuous; maxillary palp reaching slightly beyond fore coxa. In dorsal view, head posteriorly deeply concave, temples distinct, posterior ocelli distant from eye by 1.0x ocellar diameter, anterior ocellus separated from eye by 2.0x ocellar diameter, ocellar-ocular groove sometimes present as vague impressions. Minimum distance between antennal sockets about one third diameter of socket; antenna thick, curled, with 30 similar-sized transverse-quadrate flagellomeres (n=1; holotype missing apical flagellomeres) which not gradually shortening apically; basal flagellomere 1.0x as wide as high and about 1/4 of the length of scape; scape parallel-sided. Mesosoma smooth and polished except pronotum striate postero-ventrally; mesoscutum lacking notauli; in profile, scutellum somewhat high, metapleuron not convex; propodeum without carinae except short posterior stubs of lateral longitudinal carinae, although with faint wrinkles indicating position of e.g. posterior transverse carina, spiracles small. Legs all slightly flattened, broad; coxae and femora polished, tibiae and tarsi coriaceous-granulate; hind coxa 1.1x as long as first tergite, hind femur 2.8–3.1x as long as high, hind tibia 4.4x as long as apically wide; tibiae with spine-like setae. Wings somewhat narrow, cells thus comparatively long and narrow; fore wing with areolet closed (3rs-m weakly sclerotized), large, conspicuously transverse, 2m-cu meeting areolet at apical 0.7, vein Rs straight; hind wing vein cu-a conspicuously angled in lower third. All metasomal tergites polished, unsculptured. First tergite elongate, very slightly widening apically, 1.6x as long as apically wide, in dorsal view, slightly wider at spiracles; with transverse impressions originating at about middle of tergite, sloping posteriorly, not meeting centrally. Second tergite 1.0x as long as apically wide; transverse impressions originating at about middle of tergite, not meeting centrally; basal thyridia oval, not well-defined, slightly striate. Third tergite with basal thyridia narrow, elongate, slightly striate. Ovipositor straight, thin, without notch; ovipositor sheath pointed, with setae longer than sheath width and strongly curved, backwards pointing. Body largely setose except eyes, pronotum, mesopleuron and metapleuron; setae very scattered on propodeum, tergites and posterior coxae. Brown to dark brown except fore and mid legs, upper central face, tegulae, hind trochantellus and, slightly, base of hind tibia yellowish brown, mouthparts and sternites creamy brown. Male . Unknown. Biology. Hosts unknown. Both specimens were collected in Peruvian Amazonian lowland rain forests. Etymology. Named after the Latin for ‘polished’, with particular reference to the polished metasoma. Comments. Compared to congeners, this is a distinctly dark and polished species; it can be separated from other species with antennae on a high shelf and glabrous eyes by the face not laterally distinctly flattened (unlike in O. anguillae , O. concrispus , O. pentagonum , and O. shieldsi ), and the first tergite is polished and unsculptured (unlike in O. quercus and O. scurra ).
