Distribution and habitat. New Ireland : 1, 2.—General distribution: South and East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Wake and Tuamotu islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Lord Howe, Norfolk and Austral islands. Found in small groups on coral reefs, 0–15 m depth. Marine.
