BACHMANN AND SILVIA A . MAZZUCCONI Corixidae is one of the richest families of aquatic bugs in Argentina , with 28 recorded species in 5 genera. Following Hungerford (1948) , six subfamilies are currently recognized, of which only the Corixinae and Heterocorixinae are represented in the Argentinean fauna; the Micronectinae are here treated as a separate family. Hungerford (1948) subdivided the Corixinae in four tribes, out of which only Corixini is represented in the country.
