Type material. Holotype , male, Colombia : “Bogota, Kirsch” without other data ( SMTD ). Diagnosis . Plateros bogotensis differs from other Plateros in the presence of several ventrolateral thorns of phallus. Redescription . Body with ventral surface dark brown. Head dark brown, eyes small, interocular distance 1.6x longer than eye diameter. Antennae filiform to slightly serrate, reaching over elytral midlength. Antennomere 4 about 1.5x longer than 3, antennomere 4 weakly (1.1x) longer than 5. Maxillary and labial palpi short, terminal palpomeres slightly securiform. Pronotum yellow with two dark brown longitudinal stripes in mediobasal portion, strongly triangularly produced forwards, widest at basal margin, lateral margins moderately divergent posteriorly. Posterior pronotal margin bisinuate, posterior angles acute, anterior margin quite trapezoidal. Scutellum dark brown, oblong, with a shallow arcuate apical notch. Elytra yellow in basal 2/3 with dark sutural stripe in basal 2/5, distal ½ of elytra dark brown. Elytra elongate, subparallel-sided, about 3.2x as long as humeral width, each elytron with 9 weak costae, reticulate cells irregular, covered with pubescence. Legs slender, compressed, tibiae straight, trochanters and bases of femora yellow. Male genitalia slender, phallus over 5x longer than phallobase, basal portion provided with 5 ventrolateral thorns ( Fig. 5 ). Body length: 8.1 mm , humeral width: 2 mm .
