( Figs. 20–26 ) Type locality. Indonesia , Borneo , Sabah , Danum Valley , ca. 5° 01' 16'' N , 117° 44' 48'' E . Type material. Holotype : INDONESIA , BORNEO : “ SABAH , Danum, Valley, B.R.l. [Borneo Rainforest lodge], f.i.t. [flight intercept trap] 14.–16.II.2007 , G. De Rougemont”, “ Holotypus Anchocerus differens sp. nov. , J. Janák det. 2017” ( GROG ). Description. Body length 8.6 mm , forebody length 3.4 mm ( Fig. 20 ). Body black, mouthparts, legs and antennae brown, antennal segments 4–11 reddish yellow. Head ( Fig. 21 ) markedly shorter than wide (R=0.77), markedly narrowed behind eyes. Temples shorter than eyes (R=0.72). Dorsal macrosetae (one side only): one near antennal base; one medially between eyes, markedly before maximal width of head; one postero-medially, near neck constriction; one posterolaterally near neck constriction; two laterally on temple, of which one near posterior margin of eye, one between posterior margin of eye and neck constriction. Surface with sparse and fine nonsetiferous punctation. Antennae moderately short, fifth segment about as long as wide (L/W=0.96), tenth segment markedly transverse (R=0.62). Mandibles very wide in basal half, then gradually narrowed apically, basal tooth only very slightly protruding, almost invisible ( Fig. 21 ). Pronotum ( Fig. 21 ) wider than long (R=0.89), longer (R=1.66) and wider (R=1.45) than head, with punctation only slightly finer than those on head. Dorsal macrosetae (one side only): one medial and two lateral. Elytra with dense and coarse punctation, shorter than wide (R=0.90), longer (R=1.12) and wider (R=1.10) than pronotum. Wings well developed. Scutellum with punctation and setae similar to those on elytra. Abdomen with coarse and moderately dense punctation, all tergites with dense transverse microsculpture. Legs densely covered with brown setae, all tibiae with lateral spines. Male. Sternite 9 unknown (damaged in holotype ); tergite 10 ( Fig. 22 ) narrowed apically, with several long setae situated at apical and lateral margins. Aedeagus 1.2 mm long ( Figs. 23–26 ); median lobe moderately slender, narrowed apically; paramere moderately narrow, distinctly shorter than median lobe; sensory peg setae absent. Female. Unknown. Differential diagnosis. Anchocerus differens sp. nov. differs from other Anchocerus species by the very wide basal part of mandibles, posteriorly narrowed temples and slender paramere lacking sensory peg setae. The new species can be inserted in a key ( Solodovnikov 2008 ) near Anchocerus birmanus Fauvel, 1905 . Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the different shape of the mandibles and temples compared to other species of the genus. Distribution. The species is distributed in the Danum valley, Sabah , Borneo. Bionomics. The species was collected by a flight intercept trap in the rainforest.
