Gretna waga (Plötz, 1886) WL: 22mm . G. waga is a small crepuscular forest skipper. Both the genus and species are now reported for the first time from Guinea-Bissau , although occurrence in the country was foreseeable as it was previously known in West Africa from Senegal to southern Nigeria . This species also flies in Cameroon , Gabon , Congo and DRC , reaching Uganda . The caterpillars are known to feed on oil palm, Elaeis guineensis (Arecaceae) . Studied material. This is a small crepuscular skipper inhabiting forest areas and occasionally using open habitats. In West Africa it was formerly known from Sierra Leone , Liberia , Ivory Coast , Ghana , Togo and Nigeria , and is now reported for the first time from Guinea-Bissau . It also flies in equatorial Africa to Angola , south Sudan , Uganda and northwestern Tanzania . The caterpillars feed on several Marantaceae , such as Trachyphrynium braunianum , Thalia welwitschii and Marantochloa cuspidata . Studied material.
