Pseudolycoriella brevialata sp. n.

Locus typicus: USA, Texas, Sam Houston National Forest, Willis, 60 km N of Houston.
Holotype: Male, 3.–6.xi.1996, leg. W. Mohrig, yellow pan trap (PWMP).
Paratypes: 2 males and 1 female, same data as holotype (PWMP); 1 male, 21.–23.vii.1997, USA, Virginia, suburban settlement of Williamsburg, mixed forest, yellow trap, leg. W. Mohrig, (PWMP) .
Description. Male. Head: Round; eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. Antenna uniformly brownish, 4 th flagellomere with a l/w index of 1.4, hairs shorter than the flagellomere width, flagellomere with a few deepened sensorial pits. Palpi short, 3-segmented, first segment with 1–2 bristles and a flat patch of sensillae. Mouth parts short. Thorax: Brownish; scutum with rather short and dark hairs, some lateral and prescutellar bristles longer. Scutellum with 4 more robust bristles. Postpronotum bare. Wing pale, short and wide; R 1 = 1/2 R; c = 3/4 w; y shorter than x, bare; M-fork as long as M-stem, narrow; CuA-stem shorter than x; posterior veins distinct, without macrotrichia. Haltere short, brown. Legs yellowish; tibial organ of fore tibia with an irregular row of bristles, not bordered. Claws finely toothed. Abdomen: Ventral base of hypopygium without lobe, inner margin of gonocoxites with short sparse hairs. Gonostylus apically rounded, densely haired at the apex, subapically with 2 fine spines not longer than the apical hair and with 1–2 short whiplash hairs. Tegmen as wide as high, apically rounded with a horseshoe-like structure. Aedeagus short with a large furca. Body length: 2.5 mm.
Comments. The species is characterized by a rounded and densely haired apex of the gonostylus with two short subapical spines and 1–2 short whiplash hairs.
Distribution. USA (Texas, Virginia).
