Material examined: LIBERIA: Bong county, trip Bong town—Fahn-Gbolo, 6°48′N 10°21′W, 9.v.1989, vehiclemounted net, leg. Rolf Garms (1 ♀) .

Distribution: New for Liberia. Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Sierra Leone.

Remark: Roughly 40 species of this genus have been described from mainland tropical Africa, only 12 of which were keyed (Villiers, 1948). However, of those known from the region (Villiers, 1963) E. pretiosus is easily separable. Its closest relative, E. leucodermus Schouteden, 1914 (Democratic Republic of the Congo) is larger and darker.
