REMARKS

Based on its position in the molecular phylogenetic trees and on its morphology, Eumenescolex emiliae Qiu & Bouché, 1998 is clearly nested within a clade of Corsican Scherotheca with two pairs of seminal vesicles ( Sc. altarocca Marchán, Decäens & Domínguez, n.sp. and Sc.qiui Marchán, Decäens & Domínguez, n. sp.). We consequently propose to transfer this species into the genus Schecotheca under the new combination Scherotheca emiliae n. comb. Other species currently assigned to Eumenescolex (i.e., Eumenescolex pereli (Bouché, 1972), Eumenescolex heideti Qiu & Bouché, 1998, Eumenescolex gabriellae Qiu & Bouché, 1998, Eumenescolex simplex (Zicsi, 1981) and Eumenescolex zoltani Szederjesi, Pavlíček & Csuzdi 2021) should be included in molecular phylogenetic analyses before a full synonymy of Eumenescolex and Scherotheca can be proposed.
