Distribution. Native. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: San Cristóbal.

Remarks. This species is thought to be naturally spread, being introduced to the Galápagos in part through wind dispersal (Alexander 1962). Larvae were collected from the freshwater lake, El Junco (Gerecke et al. 1995).
