Distribution. Native. Neotropical; Galápagos: Isabela, San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz.

Remarks. Species of Hydrellia are leaf and stem miners of aquatic and semiaquatic plants (Mathis 1995b). Adults of this species were collected from humid highland zones (Wirth 1969b).
