Distribution. Introduced. Afrotropical, Neotropical, Oriental; Galápagos: Floreana, Isabela, San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz.

Remarks. Adults of this species were recently reared from various fruits throughout the main populated islands (Lehnen et al. unpubl.). This species is very similar morphologically to D. ananassae .
