Distribution. Introduced. Nearctic, Neotropical, Palaearctic, Oceanian; Galápagos: Baltra, Fernandina, Floreana, Isabela, Marchena (ICCDRS), Santa Cruz, Santiago (CAS).
Remarks. Adults of this species are associated with humans, and common around buildings in the arid zone. Larvae develop in garbage and are semi-carnivorous, living in carrion (Pont et al. 2007).
