Distribution. Introduced. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: Española, Floreana, Genovesa, Isabela, Marchena (ICCDRS), San Cristóbal (ICCDRS), Santa Cruz.

Remarks. Larvae inhabit mostly decaying fruit and vegetables, but sometimes carrion (Pont 1986). Adults of this species were reared from wet, decaying Jasminocereus .
