Dendrepidosis Mamaev, 1990
This exclusively Palearctic genus contained previously three species, of which only D. longipennis (Spungis) is known to occupy a larger geographical area, extending from Sweden in the west to the European part of Russia in the east (Gagné & Jaschhof 2017). The other two Dendrepidosis were found only once in the respective type localities, which lie in the European part of Russia ( D. bifidula Mamaev & Zaitzev) and the Russian Far East ( D. obstipa Fedotova & Sidorenko). Dendrepidosis obstipa is a somewhat enigmatic, poorly documented species whose affinity with Dendrepidosis is questionable (Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2013: 171). Two new Dendrepidosis are described here from Sweden: D. lapponica, of which we have only a single specimen available, and D. upplandica, represented in our material by several specimens collected in one and the same province.
Within Porricondylini, Dendrepidosis belongs to generic group Aa, characterized by the presence of 14 male flagellomeres and absence of basitarsal spines. Male genitalic characters to define the genus are as follows: the large, convex gonostylus is strongly tapered towards the apex, which is equipped with a small tooth; gonocoxal processes are inconspicuous or absent; the parameral apices are bent dorsad and have, at least in one of the included species, a two-pointed appendage; the parameral apodemes are simple rather than branched; and the ninth tergite is larger than in most other Porricondylini (see Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2013: 171).
