Type Locality: British Papua (= Papua New Guinea), head of Mambare River, Bihagi, 8°04'S, 148°01'E.

Vernacular Names: Greater Papuan Pipistrelle.

Distribution: Highlands of Papua New Guinea.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 – Not listed (lapsus); IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Pipistrellus . Included in angulatus by Laurie and Hill (1954) and in tenuis by Koopman (1993, 1994), but see Kitchener et al. (1986). Also see Flannery (1995 a) and Bonaccoroso (1998).
