Distribution: N India to S China, Burma, Vietnam, and Laos; south to W Malaysia; Borneo.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Reviewed by Bates and Harrison (1997), Bates et al. (1999), and Hendrichsen et al. (2001). Populations from Malaysia and Borneo have not been allocated to subspecies, and the subspecific status of Vietnamese populations is questionable (see Hendrichsen et al., 2001 b).
