Type data. Ex Megapodius sp., Dutch New Guinea (Indonesia, West Papua Province), Owi Is. (adjacent to Biak, Schouten Group) .

Hosts. RODENTIA: Melomys burtoni; AVES: Megapodius sp.

Distribution. Australia, Indonesia.

Remarks. This species was synonymized with Neoschoengastia innisfailensis Womersley & Heaslip, 1943 by Womersley (1952), followed by Audy & Domrow (1957) and Domrow (1960c). The last revision of Australian chiggers (Domrow & Lester 1985) included Guntheria (Phyllacarus) innisfailensis, but this synonym was omitted. Since the discrimination between G. bushlandi and G. innisfailensis provided by Vercammen-Grandjean & Langston (1971) seems grounded, I retain here the former as a separate species.
