Remarks. This species was synonymized with Neoschoengastia perameles Womersley, 1939 by Domrow (1960c). The last revision of Australian chiggers (Domrow & Lester 1985) included Guntheria (Phyllacarus) perameles, but this synonym was omitted. Since the discrimination between G. crinita and G. perameles provided by Vercammen-Grandjean & Langston (1971) and Goff (1980) seems grounded, I retain here the former as a separate species.
