Phyllocoptes abaenus Keifer 1940a

Type host and locality. Prunus sp. ( Rosaceae), USA, California.

Distribution. Found on many species of Prunus and widespread in the Palearctic and Nearctic regions, and also recorded from Australia (Danuta Knihinicki, personal communication 2012), Chile (Peralta 1991), England (recorded here), Lebanon (Bayan 1988) and New Zealand (Manson 1984).

Relation to the host. Vagrant on the under surface of the leaves, causing leaf discolouration and rusting.

Collection details. England, North Yorkshire, York, near Warthill (53° 59ʹ 22.56ʺ N, 0° 59ʹ 9.96ʺ W), high numbers on the under surface of the leaves of Prunus spinosa L., collected by the author, 22.viii.2010.
