Platycephala Laporte, 1833: 73 (as subgenus of Coptosoma Laporte, 1833). Type species by subsequent designation (Kuhlgatz 1901: 205): Platycephala metallica Laporte, 1833. Junior homonym of Platycephala Fallén, 1820 (Diptera). Synonymized by White (1839: 539).
