Dendrobaena ? samarigera (Rosa, 1893)

Remarks: This is the only report of this Levantine species in Turkey. Unfortunately the incomplete description given prevents us to decide the exact position of this specimen. The epilobous head clearly distinguishes it from the Levantine population of D. samarigera . As the specimen reported was not adult and possessed no clitellum, we could not exclude that it belongs to D. hauseri which was described from Turkey (Zicsi 1973). This species is very similar to D. samarigera and differs from it in the position of the clitellum.

Remarks: Omodeo and Rota (1989) suggested elevating of the subspecies marinae to specific rank. According to the diagnostic characters (clitellum on 26­32, tubercles on 30­31, spermathecal openings in setal line d, last pair of hearts in 11) this taxon is in complete agreement with D. schmidti therefore classifying them to separate species is unjustifiable.

Remarks: The clitellum in the D. schmidti species complex is a rather stable character. It lies, except of D. s. tellermanica, on the segments 26­32. The short description of the specimens given indicates a clitellum on 25­32 and devoid of pigmentation. These characters match exactly with those of the subspecies tellermanica.
