Paraidioscopus harrisi Viraktamath

Diagnosis. Ochraceous with mesoscutum and short streak on commissural margin of clavus yellow. Male segment X short, broader than long, pygofer posterodorsal lobe angular but rounded, anal collar process short. Style with dorsal marginal long setae restricted to distal 0.25. Aedeagal shaft not sinuate, apex hooked without rounded lobe, processes about 0.75 as long as shaft, usually cross over each other in ventral view. Female sternite VII convex with a small median lobe (Fig. 2B)
Female genitalia. Valvula II with bluntly rounded apex, dorsal teeth not well-developed in basal region, in apical region close together giving the margin a crenulate appearance (Fig. 2L).
Material examined. Several male and female specimens from Dharwad, Bangalore, Bannerghatta National park (near Bangalore) and Mudigere collected during April, July, November and December mostly on Semecarpus anacardium L. (UASB).
Remarks. Viraktamath (1973) has adequately described the species. This species breeds on Semecarpus anacardium L. ( Anacardiaceae) and has so far been collected only from Karnataka.
