Jilinga Ghauri

Jilinga Ghauri, 1974: 51; Webb & Heller 1990: 8

Type species: Deltocephalus darjilingensis Distant, 1918

Description. Head anteriorly triangularly produced, wider than pronotum. Eyes large, ocelli on anterior margin, separated from corresponding eye by approximately their own diameter. Face with dark, transverse streaks. Frontoclypeus narrow, anteclypeus slightly narrowed apically. Antennae arising near lower corner of eye. Pronotum with sides short, anterior margin strongly and roundly produced, posterior margin approximately straight. Scutellum triangular, slightly shorter than median length of pronotum, with transverse suture curved and depressed. Forewings with four apical cells and three subapical cells, appendix present.

Male genitalia. Male pygofer side slightly longer than high, with few stout setae, posteroventral margin with or without process. Anal tube sclerotized in anterior region, with long process. Valve subtriangular. Subgenital plate with wide base, sharply narrowed posteriorly, with setae along lateral submargin. Style with well developed preapical lobe, apophysis digitate or latrally curved and sculptured. Connective loop-shaped with arms fused apically, articulated with aedeagus. Aedeagus curved, aedeagal shaft flat with serrated lateral margins, gonopore apical; Dorsal apodeme articulated with well sclerotized and pigmented complex dorsal connective.

Remarks. Jilinga may be distinguished from other Paralimnini by the following combination of features: aedeagus with well developed dorsal connective, aedeagal shaft curved, flat and with serrated lateral margins.

We were not able to examine specimens of Jilinga mota (Pruthi) and the illustrations of the male genitalia given by Pruthi (1936, Fig. 137) appear inaccurate. Therefore, we are unable to comment on whether it is a true member of this genus or not. This species is not treated any further.

Distribution. Oriental Region, Palaearctic Region.
