6. Calleida borneensis species group
Diagnostic characters: With the character states of Calleida (in the widest sense, see above), restricted or amplified as follows: medium sized species (L: 8.4–9.9 mm). Pronotum and the ventral side dark brownish, with very faint metallic green reflection on pronotal disc, vertex with reddish patch; elytra metallic green, with golden reddish purple hue at sides and near apex. Elytral apex strongly curved, outer apical angles markedly widened, but not forming acute angles (fig. 16). Abdominal sternum VII in male moderately notched at middle, with one seta on each side in males, two setae in females. Median lobe of aedeagus with apical lamina capitate and securiform (fig. 64).
Taxonomic note: Only one species, C. borneensis sp. n. is attributable to this group. This rare species is known so far only from a few specimens from Borneo (map 5).
C. borneensis sp. n. is similar to members of the C. terminata group (especially to C. corporaali) in the general appearance, curved elytral truncation, and markedly widened elytral outer apical angles. But, compared with species of the C. terminata group, it is markedly different in several morphological characters, such as the outer apical angles of elytra widened but not acutely toothed, the abdominal sternum VII in males only moderately notched, and the median lobe of aedeagus without prominent ventral lobe and with apical lamina axe-shaped.
Therefore we isolate this new species in a separate group, related to the C. terminata or C. splendidula groups.
