7. Calleida doriae species group

Diagnostic characters: With the character states of Calleida (in the widest sense, see above), restricted or amplified as follows: large sized species (L: 11.5–15 mm); body blackish or reddish brown, all parts of legs including tarsi blackish; elytra metallic green, with vague blue-violet patch on disc near the suture; metasternum and metacoxae with pubescence; abdominal sternum VII with one seta on each side in males, two in females; median lobe of aedeagus markedly concave ventrally, without ventral ridges or lobes; apical lamina short.

Taxonomic note: Two very closely related species, C. doriae Bates and C. rapax Andrewes are attributed to this group. The former species is known from several localities in northern India, southern China and other southeast Asian counties, whereas the latter is restricted to northwest India (map 6).

The two taxa of this group are very similar, and could be treated as synonyms or subspecies of one species. Further material from across the wide distribution range of species of this group will allow a better solution of the question. This group is considered related to the C. chloroptera species group for the similarities in: large size and depressed body; the presence of a vague bluish purple patch on elytral disc; and metacoxae with accessory pubescence.
