Poecilocloeus Bruner, 1910
Comments. The new species herein described is included in the fruticolus group, as it presents a beigegrayish green stripe on the pronotal disc, usually dark purplish lateral lobes of the pronotum, red hind tibiae and inferior valves of aedeagus long, twisted or tubuliform (Descamps 1980). This group now has 14 species (including the new species), all of them, except this new species, are of Amazonian distribution (Fig. 1): Peruvian species: P. bora Descamps, 1980, P. cochleatus Descamps, 1980 and P. cornutus Descamps, 1980 (Loreto, Yubineto river), P. claviger (Loreto, confluence of Zumun and Yahuasyacu rivers in Colonia), P. estironana Amedegnato and Poulain, 1987 (Loreto, Ampiyaci river (Estiron)), P. pervagatus Descamps, 1976 (Loreto, Iquitos), P. luteovittatus Descamps, 1980 (Madre de Dios, Pakitza, Manu river). Ecuadorian species: P. equatoriensis Descamps, 1980 (Mera, Napo-Pastaza), P. napoana Amedegnato and Poulain, 1987 (Napo, Aguarico river (San Pablo)). Colombian species: P. calcarifer Descamps, 1976 (Meta, La Macarena), P. fruticolus Descamps, 1976 (Amazonas, Igara Parana river (30 km below La Chorrera), P. uncus Descamps, 1980 (Putumayo, Puerto Asís, El Yarumo), P. portilloi Cadena-Castañeda, 2015 (Putumayo, Valle del Guamuez, La Hormiga), P. coffeaphilus n. sp. (Antioquia, Concordia). And it is quite likely that P. abditus Descamps, 1976 (Colombia, Putumayo, between El Paujil and Orito), might also belong to the fruticolus group, but as so far it is only known from a female specimen. This species was left ungrouped by Descamps (1980).
Below, an updated key to the species of the fruticolus group is presented, including species described after the revision by Descamps (1980):
