Pseudosphinx tetrio (Linnaeus, 1771)
General distribution. South USA to Argentina including the West Indies.
Distribution in the DR. Widespread throughout the country.
Habitat. The species is much more common on the coast, in open and often anthropogenic environments, than in deep forests. It occurs up to 2000 m.
Host plants. Its caterpillar feeds on various Apocynaceae, in particular, the genus Plumeria, a very popular ornamental tree in the DR.
