Cautethia carsusi Haxaire & Schmit, 2001 (Fig 7. E, F)

General distribution. Endemic to Hispaniola.

Distribution in the DR. Pedernales, Cordillera Central and extreme east of the Island (Fig 1. F).

Habitat: It is difficult to circumscribe the typical biotope of this insect as it has been found in the area of the beaches of Punta Cana, in the semi-desert areas of Pedernales and also in the dry forests at medium elevations in the same state. It can, however, be said that the species is distinctly xerophilic.

Host plants. Larval stages and host plants unknown.
