Type Locality: Russia, Commander Isls, "found stranded in Stare Gavan, on the eastern shore of Bering Island".

Vernacular Names: Baird's Beaked Whale.

Distribution: North Pacific: temperate waters.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; IUCN – Lower Risk (cd).

Discussion: Reviewed by Balcomb (1989); possibly a subspecies of arnuxii, see Davies (1963) and McLachlan et al. (1966).
