Family Theamatidae Marcus, 1949

Diagnosis (according to Faubel, 1983): Leptoplanoidea with cerebro-tentacular eyes. Ruffled pharynx central or somewhat posterior oriented. Gonopore separate. Male copulatory apparatus directed backward behind the pharynx. Intromittent ejaculatory duct strongly reduced. The interior lining of the prostatic vesicle totally lining the narrow ejaculatory duct. Extravesicular glands, the ducts of which distally bundled, pour into the proximal part of the prostatic vesicle. Simple female complex without true uteri and Lang’s vesicle.
