Distribution: Senegal, The Gambia (Kolbe, 1899a).

Remark: Kolbe (1899a) recorded three females deposited in Brenske’s collection and labeled as A. encausta Chevrolat. He briefly described the differences between A. insulana Karsch and A. encausta; the latter characterized as being smaller, pale brown, feebly lustrous, with pronotum and scutellum finely punctured. Consequently, Kolbe should be treated as the author of A. encausta, and 1899 as the year of publication.
