Note: Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2014) treat Rhipicephalus pseudolongus as provisionally valid. Walker et al. (2000) stress the difficulties involved in morphologically separating this species from related taxa and propose a reexamination of the types of all species involved in this problem, especially Rhipicephalus cliffordi (not recognized in Walker et al. 2000), Rhipicephalus compositus, Rhipicephalus longus and Rhipicephalus pseudolongus, but also Rhipicephalus senegalensis . See Rhipicephalus senegalensis for a discussion of the difficulties attending morphological separation of that species from Rhipicephalus longus and Rhipicephalus pseudolongus .
