An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae, but they have also been recovered from Artiodactyla: Suidae, Perissodactyla: Equidae and Rhinocerotidae, Carnivora: Canidae and Felidae, and rarely from Galliformes: Phasianidae; larvae and nymphs have been collected from Rodentia: Muridae and Spalacidae . Rhipicephalus jeanneli is a very rare parasite of humans.
