An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Afrosoricida: Tenricidae. Nymphs have been collected from Rodentia: Muridae, and larvae have been recovered from Rodentia: Nesomyidae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis subelongata causing human parasitism.
