158. Haemaphysalis taiwana Sugimoto, 1936 .
An Oriental species known only to parasitize Artiodactyla: Bovidae . However, Zhang, Y. et al. (2019) ignore artiodactyls as hosts of Haemaphysalis taiwana, instead listing “sylvatic pigs” and “dogs” as hosts of this tick, a statement that requires confirmation.
M: Sugimoto (1936), under the name Haemaphysalis cornigera taiwana and given its current status in Hoogstraal and El Kammah (1972)
F: Sugimoto (1936)

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) list the larva and nymph of Haemaphysalis taiwana as described, but no bona fide descriptions of either stage of this species have been found. Teng and Jiang (1991) regard Haemaphysalis taiwana as a synonym of Haemaphysalis cornigera . See also Haemaphysalis anomaloceraea and Haemaphysalis shimoga for their proposed synonymy with Haemaphysalis taiwana .
