An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed nymph and larva, have been found on Rodentia: Hystricidae; adults and nymphs have been collect-ed from Passeriformes: Motacillidae; nymphs alone have been recovered from Rodentia: Muridae, and Carnivora: Felidae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis tauffliebi causing human parasitism.
