An Afrotropical species whose adults have been found on Mammalia (several orders), and Accipitriformes: Accipitridae . Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides is a sporadic parasite of humans.

Note: Walker (1957) and Walker et al. (2000) state that it can be difficult to morphologically separate females and nymphs of Rhipicephalus humeralis from those of Rhipicephalus pulchellus, but the larvae of these species are even more difficult to distinguish from each other.
